About Us

Dear Valued Guests,

Following the latest Government announcement, we’re sadly moving from Tier 2 to Tier 3 at 00:01 on Saturday meaning we will be calling last orders Friday evening (Friday 18th) until we are told otherwise.

We had hoped to be celebrating Christmas with you, but 2020 had other plans.

With that in mind any bookings from Saturday 19th to the end of the year will sadly be cancelled.

We will miss you and are so sorry that we won’t be able to celebrate Christmas with you!

We hope to open again very soon, until then Merry Christmas and keep safe, we will see you on the other side!

Also, as much as we wish you could just pop in for a pint or a cocktail, for now we’re only allowed to serve alcohol when you eat with us.

Last orders are at 10pm, so we’ll be ringing the bell around 9.45pm and we need to ensure you’re fed, watered and heading safely home by 11pm.

Table service is still the way forward for us at the moment.

Orders can now be made directly from our website (Just click Order)

You will also be able to order everything from lager to late-night cocktails on the handy QR code directly on your table and follow the link to order your food!

In terms of booking sizes, although the tiers will be reviewed on the 16th December and as much as we may hope we head into tier 1 for the last few weeks, we just don’t know and can’t plan for that to be the case, so we have to assume for all bookings in December that it’s single households inside the pub (including support bubbles, which is where one adult can join another household).

We’ll be back in the pub properly from Monday, so just to let you know, there’s no-one there to answer the phones or to pick emails up until then.

Face coverings are now mandatory at all times unless seated. This includes toilet visits and as you enter the pub. Please make sure to bring your face coverings with you to the pub.

Please don’t be offended however we will ask you to follow the government guidelines and provide us with your information, it’s for your safety and others and our team– we promise we will keep it safe for 21 days and then we will destroy it …. I now sound like a Dalek don’t I!

We are now fully operational with our Click & Collect App– check out our website click on order and click on Click and Collect button– order form our menu, and pay on the app. All you then have to do is come down and pick it up.

A little bit about us ….

Established this year, The Cross Keys in Newbury is our first venture on London Road, Newbury.

Named after the sign of Saint Peter, the gatekeeper of Heaven – well there is nothing saintly about us actually the complete opposite– our business is home to a quirky ‘steam punk’ inspired bar area with open fires, 40-seat eating area, complete with full-length open street food kitchen.
